To ensure our staff understands the specific and often complex needs of those individuals whom we support and the ways in which we can respond to those needs. To provide a care package that focusses on independence and progressions, delivering positive outcomes for every resident. To enable and encourage every individual to communicate in their own way; whether that be through speed, sign language, symbols or objects of reference.
At Westfield House, we have a range of provision and services that allow us to deliver a truly state of the art care package tailored to meet the specific needs of every individual. Our resources include; a sensory studio with large projected cinema screens, polytunnel and growing gardens for horticultural activities and a hydrotherapy bath.
Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC)
AAC is an umbrella term used to describe additional methods of communication other than speech. At Westfield House, we use communication symbols throughout the home and our staff has the experience and access to training in sign language, picture boards and objects of reference.
Our transition coordinator will work with every individual throughout their journey with us, in the development of an individualised and unique discharge plan. At Westfield House, we understand that residential care should not be for life but instead be a means of progression and development that will allow individuals to gain the life-skills and confidence required to live and/or work as independently as possible.
We offer an adaptable service; facilities are continually reviewed and updated in order to provide a safe environment in which the needs of every individual are met. We work collaboratively with our residents; their input and involvement allow us to provide a care package tailored to suit their own unique and specific needs. Our highly skilled staff are given the skills and confidence that they need in order to deliver the highest standards of care and support to every resident. Every person matters and will be treated equally, compassionately and with the utmost respect & dignity. Independence, choice, and individuality are at the core of our values. We cannot replace home, however, while you are with us, we will never stop trying.
We are very proud of what we do and are always keen to show visitors around. No appointment is necessary so please feel free to drop in for a guided tour, coffee and cake!
The staff at Westfield House are outstanding and looked after our son in a caring and understanding manner. - S P
Our son has lived at Westfield House for three years now and has been very settled and happy there. The staff and manager all understand his disability and treat him kindly and respectfully. The staff have particularly dealt exceptionally well during the Covid pandemic and allowed our son to feel relaxed and safe during restrictions. He has recently had his room decorated to his individual taste, which he loves. - T P
The staff is always very pleasant and helpful. Our grandson is always happy to return there after we have him out for a trip and he is always tidy and presentable when we pick him up. - Kenneth S
Despite a year of Covid lockdowns and an outbreak of Covid-19 at the home, the staff at Westfield House have coped extraordinarily well. The manager and his team have delivered high-class professional care with positivity ensuring residents are stimulated and happy. I can't thank the manager and his staff enough for all they have done for my brother during the very difficult last year. Well done! - Kim L
It's been a very unusual year, but I feel in the circumstances, you have kept everyone safe even when Covid did hit the home in January. You have kept the residents occupied; the only thing I feel would have helped is maybe investing in an Ipad or tablet so residents can do face-to-face with family. Keep up the good work. You can get through this; the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger! - K D
The staff are amazing and caring and welcoming. The food is excellent and they are very respectful. - V W
