Maitland House is located on Church Road in Clacton-on-Sea. There are 24 rooms at the home, some of which have sea views from the windows. We provide short-term, respite care and longer term care and support at the home.
As well as the comfortable bedrooms with ensuite facilities, there are large, separate communal lounges, a dining room, hair salon and adapted bathrooms. Maitland House has a seaside-themed courtyard garden with beach huts on-site, perfect for enjoying the sunny weather when possible.
Our residents enjoy freshly cooked, healthy meals. Most residents choose to eat together in the dining room, while others choose to eat in the comfort of their own bedrooms.
The home has a regular and fun-filled activities schedule provided by our Activity Co-Ordinators. These activities are planned and tailored to our residents likes and interests with group and individual events taking place daily. Being person-centred is at the heart of everything we do, and we believe it is important to know our residents and what matters to them, to provide the true atmosphere of home whilst they are in our care.
Maitland House has been rated ‘Good Overall’ by the Care Quality Commission in its latest inspection.
At the recent Essex County Council ‘Prosper’ awards, the home was commended in the Diversity and Inclusion category of the awards for their work in supporting a Chinese speaking couple at the home – adapting signage, creating menus in Cantonese and working with a Chinese-speaking volunteer to provide the resident with dedicated support.

Staff all very friendly and helpful. They settled mum in well when she was admitted at short notice. The procedures to protect residents from COVID infection are rigorous, but it is still possible to visit residents outdoors whilst maintaining social distancing. - D H
A pleasant welcome when visiting, 'A Buzz' within the home that gives a friendly atmosphere, helpful with visitors and residents. After visiting 10 or more we chose this home very satisfied in doing so. - B S
Just want to say thank you to the manager and all the staff for looking after mum she really liked her stay with you and wants to come back again she rated the food ten out of ten and loved the young man that looked after her (mum's words) so on that note, we rate you a ten out of ten once again thank you very much and we will be seeing you again in the new year - Beverley C
So far my mother has been well looked after. The staff have been very accommodating considering we have been in lockdown since she went into the home and there has not always been a full compliment. I have only been allowed into the home once but found it well decorated and clean with modern furniture and fittings. With its close location to the seafront, I look forward to being able to take my mother out in the summer. - John S
Staff very polite and professional at all times. Pleasant room and facilities. Only one complaint. Last meal without a drink, a very long time before breakfast. I was an orthopaedic patient and total non-weight bearing requested by the consultant. - Peter E
Excellent care home couldn’t do better. The home is clean, well run and maintained. Good atmosphere and staff very friendly and always welcoming. Managers always available if you need to ask anything. - Lindy G
