Potton View is our residential care home based in Gamlingay on the Cambridgeshire border with Hertfordshire. The home can accommodate up to 31 residents with all rooms situated on one level, making the home fully accessible and mobility friendly.
The property is a large detached bungalow with a car park and gardens surrounding the side and back of the home. The garden surrounding Potton View is spacious and allows our residents to enjoy the feeling of being in the countryside from the comfort of their own homes. The gardens are disabled-friendly with level access with exquisite views of the surrounding farmland, making enjoying the grounds a very peaceful experience. We use the gardens to host barbecues and social events for the residents, their friends and relatives and the local community.
Inside, Potton View has a number of communal spaces including two separate lounges, a well-presented dining room, a salon for our residents to receive hair and nail treatments, and full bathroom facilities. Many of the bedrooms have ensuite facilities.
The nearby villages of Gamlingay and Potton have a rich history dating back to the Bronze Age. We encourage our residents to continue to visit supermarkets, shops, bakeries, public houses, a public library, parks and walkways, and doctors surgeries to maintain their connection to the local villages.
My wife's nan has been here a while now, and all staff and management have gone out of their way to help her with settling in and making her feel like home from home. I can’t thank them all enough for the work they do. - Iain D
The staff are very helpful and caring. Nothing seems too much trouble. Very impressed with the quality of care. Food is outstanding and apparently plenty to have. All in all, happy with the care. - Jane N
Our mum has been in the care of Potton View since August 2019 and we are all extremely happy she is there and being so well looked after. Mum herself always tells people the staff are so kind and really can't do enough for her. It was not easy to acknowledge we had reached the time when we had to take the care route, but it was definitely the right decision. We all have nothing but praise for the manager and all the staff, who are very caring and supportive of her individual disabilities and needs. Her accommodation and the home facilities are excellent, not to mention the lovely homemade food, which has helped mum to regain the weight she lost prior to her arrival at Potton View. We wanted our mum to be cared for, to feel secure and to be happy and we are delighted to say she has all of those things in abundance. - Gill H
I have recently had the task of finding a care home for my 96-year-old mum. I eventually chose Potton View as when we approached them, they couldn't have been more helpful and caring, as if mum really mattered. Mum has been there a few weeks now and I can't praise them enough. The staff are so caring to the residents and make us welcome as well. The rooms are lovely and the food is first class as well. I can't thank them enough for caring so lovely for her. - D S
Potton View care home has provided a safe and calm residence for both my mother and father in law. We have been made to feel welcome by the friendly and considerate staff. The rooms are warm, spacious and well maintained with gardens views to enjoy. We even enjoyed the Christmas party and buffet. Would recommend! - Craig G
My mother originally went into the care home for respite having been discharged from hospital. The manager assessed her whilst in hospital and explained how the home was run. I have been immensely impressed. The staff are very friendly, approachable they go out of their way to help residents and families. They have an amazing rapport with the residents and you can clearly see how happy this makes end of life care - happy and comfortable. They have been remarkably patient with my mother, who can be difficult at times. The home is very clean, comfortable and furnished in such a way that it is more like their own home. My mother has a bright spacious room with a lovely view onto the front garden and a bird table has been positioned so that she can watch birds feed. She has an en-suite wet room which is extremely spacious. I don’t think we would find a better home or better care, my thanks go to management and all staff for giving me ‘peace of mind’. - Sue O
The care and compassion shown not only to my grandmother but to us as a family was fantastic. Every member of staff went out of their way to get to know us and make my nan feel at home. My nan was cared for with respect and her dignity was always maintained. I thank all the staff at Potton View, they should be very proud of how they run the home, I know I am. - Sara M
