Westfield House, our care home in Dereham which supports adults with autism, has been given a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission following an unannounced inspection.

The home on Westfield Road in the town was visited by two inspectors from the regulatory body on two unannounced visits in October 2025. The inspectors spoke to the manager and staff at the home, as well as residents and family members during their visits. The inspection covered 5 different areas of care including leadership, responsiveness, effectiveness, safety and care.

In the report, published on the CQC website on 7th January 2026, the inspectors praised the staff for their politeness, knowledge of the care needs of the residents and pride in what they do at the home.

Inspectors said: “The provider always made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices, and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs. Relatives we spoke with told us that people received consistently good person-centred care.”

More praise for the home in the report included: “For one person who loved listening to their collection of vinyl records, the provider had converted a small room upstairs into a private lounge for them to display and play their music in private.”

Relatives of a resident described the care team as “a great bunch who really care for the people who live here [at the home].”

Tom Lyons thanked the staff team: “I was very pleased to read the report from the CQC inspection team. Our team at the home are dedicated to supporting the residents’ care needs and they work closely with their relatives to keep them updated on the welfare of their loved ones. We’re very proud of them for their efforts in helping Westfield House maintain their good rating.”
