The Lodge Care Home pass Food and Safety Inspection with flying colours!

In November 2021 The Lodge Care Home was visited by a member of Tendring District Council's food safety inspection team, to assess the kitchen and communal areas for cleanliness; infection prevention and control measures, and ensure all guidance and regulations are being followed in relation to food and drink in service.

It is an incredibly poignant occasion for the home in the light of the last eighteen months, to be able to say that not only have we maintained our previous rating - but we have actually improved.

The Lodge Care Home received a food safety hygiene rating of 5, with 0 reccommendations to improve the service. This is a huge accomplishment by Registered Manager Aleksandra and the whole team, and a true testament to the amazing work you do in the service every day.

The inspection is split into three sections:

1 - Food Safety Inspection

This section focuses on food hygiene practices in the service including hand-washing procedures, correct storage of food and drink items, risks of contamination, defrosting and freezing food, cooking safely etc...

Within this section of the report, The Lodge is described as having 'satisfactory practices, as far as observed and discussed'.

2 - Structure

This section is centred on ensuring that all equipment within the service relating to food and drink is fit for use and maintained to the highest standards; effective cleaning rotas and evidence, maintenance of the facility, ventilation, pest control and waste disposal.

Within this section of the report, The Lodge was described as having 'structure and equipment in good condition...Levels of cleanliness very good throughout'.

3 - Confidence in Management

This section ensures that safe methods are being adhered too within the service: making sure the correct checks are being done; care plans include details of allergens, staff training is up to date and evidenced as being maintained, full list of service suppliers, diary up to date and four week review completed.

Within this section the inspector stated: "Records and documents in good working order and up to date".

We are incredibly proud of the amazing work the staff team do in the home every day to ensure the highest levels of choice, cleanliness and safety for each and every one of our residents.

Thank you for your continued hard work.
