Nightingale Lodge first received the title of Outstanding Overall in 2019 and we are overjoyed to see them maintain and improve upon this amazing achievement.
It is a true testament to the hard work; care, passion and dedication of our wonderful Registered Manager Sandra Rowe and her fantastic team, that they have not only maintained this rating, but have actually improved it – even in the face of everything the sector has had to adapt too throughout the last 18 months.
Within the Care Quality Commission’s key lines of enquiry Nightingale Lodge has been recognized as being outstanding in three of the five main questions;
Within this section of the report the CQC inspector spoke to one of our residents, who said: "The staff are extremely kind and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. It is the closest thing I can think of to living at home."
Within this category of the report the CQC noted the staff’s attitude towards learning and development, and support from Sandra herself. The inspector spoke to a member of staff who told them: “Staff said, "[Registered manager] has inspired me to achieve excellence which although has been challenging and stretching it has also been highly rewarding …. In terms of developing my training I am encouraged by the management team to further my knowledge. There are multiple opportunities to do so."
Within this category the report states that ‘At the heart of Nightingale Lodge was a very strong ethos of individualised care’ which we feel incredibly proud to see noted within the report, as the person-centred approach is at the core of our values across the company.
One of our residents loved ones spoke to the inspector and told said: "The manager pays attention to ever-changing circumstances and details of the environment and of each resident. I cannot commend her enough. The care of my [family member] has been exemplary."
Since the start of 2021 until October 1st the CQC have published over 200 inadequate reports, whilst only 5 Outstanding have been published in the same time period. We feel that this demonstrates the amazing achievement this is for the home. (See the CQC data here).
Sandra Rowe, Registered Manager of Nightingale Lodge, told us what it means to her and the team to receive this rating:
“To me it’s an honour, not only for myself but for the whole wonderful team we have here at Nightingale Lodge. To receive the outstanding especially in Black Swan Care Group’s first home is quite overwhelming, for a second time too.
“This achievement has been made more poignant by the pandemic, collectively as a team we have all gone that extra mile in keeping ourselves and our residents safe, mindful of their feelings ,family and friends.
“I would not have had it any other way.”
