In the lead up to our festival residents and staff took part in preparation activities, getting ready to make D-fest the biggest success it could be. Our residents named the festival, chose what stalls they wanted to have at the event, and created custom clothing for both staff and residents to wear.
Together they made tie-dye tee shirts with some out of this world designs, as well as flower crowns, makeup and colourful hair and wigs! Our residents chose to have a cocktail stall after recently learning to make some of their favourite drinks in their cocktail mornings.
They also created a burger and hotdog stall, a tabletop gaming area, and they even custom-built their own teepees for this special event. Our residents are very into their music and after missing a number of events due to Coronavirus, staff couldn't resist bringing the festival to them. A number of our residents also assisted staff with running the stalls throughout the day.
Our team member Lorraine Coker told us:
"Residents really missed going out so Lily, me and Ella (Drummonds activity coordinators) came up with something bright and happy for staff and residents to smile about.
We all had so much fun and residents really got involved and all dressed up too"
It was an amazing day and we are so proud of our staff and residents for the immense effort they put into what was truly a unique and special occasion.
