19 year old Charntay Naidoo is setting her sights on representing England as a boxer at the Olympic games.

By day, Charntay is a Domestic Assistant at Potton View care home in Gamlingay, near Sandy in Bedfordshire. Her passion outside of the care home is boxing and she is rapidly progressing towards her goal, with her most recent achievement of winning the Golden Glove Box Cup in Bolton.

Charntay has been boxing since she was 10 years old and trains up to 6 days a week. Sessions are mixed between glove work and sparring, combined with cardio work including different running sessions.

She says she has a drive to compete and this has led to her to be selected onto the England senior Boxing development Pathway. The pathway is for England’s talented young boxers, who are selected to train and compete at national and international levels as well as being supported to learn more about sport and exercise science.

At the most recent Golden Glove Box Cup in Bolton, Charntay competed in 3x3 rounds, before being awarded as the winner by unanimous decision and the Golden Gloves for the tournament. She was also recognised as the best female senior at the event.

Charntay explained more about her sport: “I have a deep passion for boxing, and it's something that drives me every day. I've dedicated countless hours to training and perfecting my skills, and its all paid off with this latest win. I'm excited to keep pushing forward. The next step is to continue competing for England and ultimately to get to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Potton View for supporting me and to Black Swan who are supporting me financially with my training equipment and transport needs."
