Black Swan Care Group celebrate the McVities Tasties Tea Party!

For Nutrition and Hydration Week in June 2021 McVities Biscuits; NAPA Living Life, and snacking company Pladis launched the virtual tea party to encourage care homes across the country to tune in and break the record for the Biggest tea party in British history! 

Moving on from the event the organisers challenged care providers up and down the country to come up with unique and interesting ways to feature McVities biscuits within their tea party in unexpected ways in their menus, with chefs and kitchen teams submitting some truly amazing creations.  

They also wanted to see our residents get involved, and challenged them to decorate their own biscuits and share their creations to be in with a chance of winning a luxury hamper for their care home! 

Read on to hear about some of the amazing activities our residents have taken part in across the last four months as part of this amazing campaign! 

 

The Haven Care Home (Boston, Lincolnshire) 

At The Haven our residents turned the McVities Tea Party into a huge event, combining it with their annual MacMillan coffee morning to raise money and awareness for even more worthy causes. 

Our residents were able to decorate their own biscuits for sale in their visitors room, as well as spend time with their families on the patio allowing them to enjoy some special time together in the last of the warm weather. 

Our Activity Coordinator Flo did an amazing job of curating truly unique activities; with our residents learning how to build their own paper teacup hats from scratch, before decorating them with McVities Tasties biscuits and modelling their amazing creations on the day.

Well done to the team and our amazing resident group! 

 

Chiswick House Care Home (Norwich) 

At Chiswick House in Norwich our amazing chef Caroline took the time to create a truly delightful cake using the McVities tasties biscuits!

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed it in their VIP afternoon tea, and they even hand decorated their own biscuits beforehand, making some delightful creations which oure residents enjoyed with a nice cuppa! 

 

Laurel Lodge Care Home (Norwich) 

At Laurel Lodge our residents were treated to a lovely spread for their afternoon tea to mark the McVities Tasties Tea Party 2021!

The kitchen team put on a beautiful display featuring some of our residents favourite sweet treats - it was a lovely day and our residents thoroughly enjoyed celebrating these lovely events!

 

Nightingale Lodge (Hunstanton, Norfolk)  

At Nightingale Lodge our kitchen team went above and beyond making custom cakes for our residents to enjoy for their afternoon tea.  The wonderful cake features McVities Tasties biscuits! 

To mark the occasion residents decided to take part in a Selfie session with staff, posing for photographs during their tea party to go on display in the home, and show off what a wonderful time they had taking part in this unique campaign. 

They had such a good time that our staff created a lovely collage showing our residents reaction to the fabulous food from the kitchen! 

 

The Gables Care Home (Chatteris, Cambridgeshire) 

At The Gables Care Home our residents were treated to a very special biscuit decorating session as a group.

They made some amazing creations and our residents were over the moon to enjoy them with a nice cuppa to take part in this lovely campaign stretching across the social care sector. 

 

Westfield House Care Home (Dereham, Norfolk) 

At Westfield House our amazing residents took part in their very own cooking club specifically to make some delightful sweet treats for the McVities Tasties Tea Party 2021.  

They decorated biscuits, created their own scrumptious goodies and then enjoyed an afternoon tea together in the afternoon. 

Our residents had an amazing time and we are so proud of the amazing job they did! 

 

Valentine House (Silver End, Essex) 

Although some of our residents at Valentine House can be a little camera shy they wanted to share their participation in the McVities Tasties Tea Party 2021 nonetheless. 

Together they spent time with staff hand-decorating their favourite selection of McVities biscuits! 

They had a lovely time decorating them, and enjoyed eating them with a lovely cup of tea even more!
