At York House in Dereham (Norfolk) our residents and staff celebrated the Grand National with a special event in the home.
All staff and residents picked who they thought would be the winning horse, before writing their guesses down. When the race began our residents and staff waited with baited breath to find out who would be the winner.
It was a wonderful event which everyone enjoyed, and saw a number of our residents and staff team win very special prizes for placing with their horses.
We wanted to show off some of the amazing photographs from the day, and reveal our winners:
Marguerite Parkinson won 1st prize – Her winning prize was a beautiful flowering plant with a lovely display pot which is proudly flowering in the home. Marguerite was over the moon to come in first place.
Mary Wales won 2nd Prize – Mary chose not to have a photograph but she won a beautiful flower arrangement which puts a smile on everyone’s face and she wanted to share them with the world. She was very happy to receive them.
Doreen Osborne won 3rd prize, Doreen has a real passion for birds and wildlife and received a lovely puzzle including her favourite creatures which she is really looking forward to completing. Doreen is a big fan of puzzles and requested that this be a prize so we’re happy we could do this for her.
Salma Dear – Won 1st prize out of the entire staff group and received a £20.00 gift voucher for coming first!
Lucy Taylor – Won 2nd prize and received a bottle of champagne to enjoy with her loved ones.
Karen Nelson – Won 3rd Prize but selflessly donated it to the residents.
It was a wonderful day full of joy and laughter for both residents and staff alike, and we are so proud of our staff for organising this event and making sure it was a wonderful occasion for each and every one of our residents in the home.
