A recent study revealed that customising Zimmer frames can help reduce falls in the elderly.

This is something our manager at Park House – Sara Pearce – wanted to trial. She began the ‘Pimp My Zimmer Frame‘ initiative at the home in Great Yarmouth after lock down began.

Not only does this help represent our amazing residents individual personalities but it also creates an awareness of their walking aid in their general day to day life. The study suggested that because of this, it also helps to reduce falls in elderly users.

One home in Essex who previously implemented the initiative has stated their falls have gone down by 60% and residents with Dementia find it particularly useful as they can easily recognise the frame as their own.

Here are some of the amazing Zimmer frames our residents at Park House have designed so far – we think they look amazing!

Here’s Joyce – she’s an avid baker and wanted to share that with everyone who saw her.
Michael is a huge Southend United fan and couldn’t resist showing it off on his zimmer frame.
Cynthia wanted to decorate her zimmer frame with things that made her happy.
Barry wanted to show off his devotion to Charlton Athletic.
