It’s that time of year where our residents would usually be spending time on the beach, at the park, and enjoying the Summer sunshine – but as that can’t happen right now our staff have brought the beach to them.
Our residents let us know they were missing the things they’d usually be experiencing in the Summer, and while we aren’t able to do trips out of the home at the moment – our staff put in the extra effort to ensure our residents weren’t missing out.
Instead of taking the residents to the beach, we brought the beach to them! Our maintenance team put in an amazing effort to build a wooden structure and the whole team at Mid-Meadows spent time making the garden into an island paradise.
They’ve built a brilliant tiki style seaside bar with a makeshift beach complete with paddling pool and sand, and all their favourite drinks. They’ve even decorated it with luau themed decorations and given it the title of ‘Hog Island’ – our residents are loving it!
They even took the time to give us some quotes while they soaked up the Summer Sun!
“It’s been great fun! I feel realy fully involved. I want more of these theme weeks” – Molly, aged 26.
“Great idea – everyone got involved, just like being in the Caribbean” – Karen, aged 44.
“It’s lovely, we all loved the water fight” – Keith, aged 53.
As well as building the bar and providing a holiday destination to die for in their own back garden, our staff got all of our residents involved in a mass water fight. All the residents and staff had an amazing time and we’re so pleased that it was such a roaring success.
We also wanted to say a huge thanks to our manager Bev and her amazing team who put in so much effort to provide our residents a truly unique and uplifting experience at a time when they’re missing out on their usual Summer activities. You’ve done an absolutely phenomenal job and we’re incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
