Heathcote residents compete for the home’s Great British Bake-Off title!

Heathcote Care Home held their own Great British Bake-Off to crown chief baker within the home.

Three of our amazing residents paired up with staff members, in this team competition to crown the home’s Chief Baker.

Each team created one savory and one sweet dish which was then judged by the company Director and founding father of Black Swan Care Group – Clive Hill.

Residents Muriel, Marie, and Sandra were over the moon to be involved and made some amazing treats for the judging panel.

Here’s the full menu of delicious goodies our residents made:

Blue Team:

Resident Sandra Hemsley and our amazing team member Baylee Lou Dale teamed up to create some delicious Pork and apple sausage rolls for their savory dish, as well as a selection of mini strawberry cheesecakes, and mini ginger and orange cheesecakes.

They were delightful and our judges Clive Hill, wife Lynn, and Regional Manager Ria all thoroughly enjoyed them – as well as the rest of our resident group.

Sandra and Baylee’s dishes were the judges' favourite and they have crowned the winners of the competition.

Purple Team:

Our wonderful resident Marie Scott and carer Rebecca Woods made some scrumptious sausage rolls of their own as their savory option, bringing together pork, pickle, and thyme.

For dessert, they made an amazing chocolate Malteser cheesecake which really tickled our taste buds.

Green Team:

Resident Muriel Walmsley and carer Charlotte Barrett created some amazing stuffing-filled sausage rolls, alongside a lovely lime cheesecake.

Muriel didn’t realise how much she’d missed baking, and said: “It is so nice to be baking again”.

Marie said: “I had a fantastic time and I can’t wait to do it again”.

Our winning team was led by our wonderful resident Sandra, who said: “I have had the loveliest day, and I can hardly believe I won!”

We wanted to say a huge thank you to the team for making this wonderful day possible for our residents, you are an amazing team of dedicated and wonderful people who ensure our residents live happy and fulfilling lives, and we are so proud of each and every one of you.
