01/04/2020

A short round-up of some of our home’s Easter celebrations, to show how they spent their Easter weekend and what fun they all had.

All of our homes put a huge amount of effort into ensuring our residents had a fantastic Easter, despite not being able to see their families.

We ensured they could all contact their loved ones if they wished, by teaching residents how to use video chats on their phone and tablet computers, as well as certain homes setting up dedicated Facebook groups to enable our residents without social media or smart phones to be able to see their friends and family.

Our staff are putting an immense amount of effort into providing an enriching activities schedule, providing services which are usually delivered by outside entertainers, as well as extra activities such as crafts, reminiscing, and cooking.

We wanted to show off the wonderful work they’ve been doing – and how much fun our residents have been having!

Chiswick House

In the lead up to Easter our residents at Chiswick House in Norwich made their own Easter cards which staff then assisted them to send out to their loved ones. We thought this would be a creative activity for our residents which gave them a fun afternoon, as well as allowing contact with their friends and family who are unable to visit at this time.  They had a lot of fun making them, and they did a wonderful job. All of the cards were absolutely beautiful.

On Easter Sunday our residents were treated by a member of our staff who brought in their very own Easter Bunny who our residents got to meet and handle.

They’re missing their regular visits from Zoolab and Bert’s Amazing Creatures, so it was wonderful seeing them interact with this beautiful rabbit.  They loved being able to pet and play with her – we’ve found our residents get a lot out of contact with animals and we’re happy this can continue, with studies proving animals helping with self-esteem, mental stability and increased levels of happiness.

Our amazingly talented and creative group of residents at Drummonds residential spent the Easter weekend outside – creating a giant rainbow in the facilities patio garden.

They made the decision to take advantage of the brilliant Easter weather and stay outside, while joining in with the national rainbow trail initiative to show people passing by they are fine.

It is being classed as ‘Rainbows of Hope’ and they had a lot of fun creating this wonderful piece of art as a community, assisted by staff.

In preparation for Easter our pottery group created some amazing Spring themed clay creations with the hope of sending them to their loved ones as Easter presents once they were fired.

Their very talented pottery teacher Shaun has begun virtual classes with the group so they can continue making brilliant pots and sculptures, and he has fired their Easter creations in his kiln. They look fantastic!

At Heathcote our residents were surprised when each of them was given a special Easter treat – an adorable little bag full of mini eggs and an adorable  toy chick, gifted to them by the amazing staff in the home. Residents were over the moon to receive the surprise presents, and here you can see them showing them off!

Our staff held an Easter themed quiz with our residents, where they had the chance to win prizes such as Easter eggs and Lindt bunnies! They had a lot of fun taking part, and worked up quite the appetite.

Heathcote decided to do something a little bit different for dinner! Rather than the traditional roast they had a beautiful afternoon tea complete with beautiful cakes, tea, coffee and hot chocolates.  The residents all ate and chatted together and had a lovely time reminiscing about many Easter’s past with our staff team.

Our residents at Laurel have been lucky enough to receive a lot of wonderful letters, cards and drawings from our Little Visitors from Friend in Deed as well as from local school children. We love that they can stay in touch with the children they’ve grown so fond of, and maintain their bonds despite not being able to see each other face-to-face at the moment. We love how happy they are to receive them, so thank you to anyone who sent them Easter cards!

Our residents also made some brilliant Easter baskets before the Easter weekend, so they had some amazing centre-pieces for their Easter Sunday lunch. Look what an amazing job they’ve done!

Our residents at Nightingale wanted to get creative for Easter, and took part in a themed craft session with staff. They made a brilliant selection of miniature nests with tiny chicks to decorate the home for Easter weekend.

They made some brilliant crafts and had a fantastic time being creative with staff assisting them, and it was a beautiful display for their dinner tables on Easter Sunday.

At Park House our residents were treated to some fantastic Easter Eggs over the weekend, and enjoyed a fantastic spread of wonderful food.  They had a wonderful weekend spent together with staff and contacting their families using phones, and video chat. They had a brilliant time eating chocolate and Easter lunch before a nice relaxing Easter Sunday evening.

Southwell Court

At Southwell Court our amazing residents created a beautiful set of Easter cards for their friends and family. They spent an afternoon designing cards, cutting paper and making designs from scrap material, paper and magazines. They did an amazing job! Our staff assisted where needed and we’re hoping our residents family and friends enjoyed receiving them in the post.

The Beeches

At The Beeches in East Harling we’re lucky enough to have a group of residents who enjoy doing anything artistic and creative.  Staff -headed by our Activities coordinator Marie – made templates for our residents to hand-weave their own Easter baskets.

Not only did they have a lot of fun and create objects which featured as centre-pieces for their Easter lunch, but they also learnt a new skill and they got something they can keep and use again. They did an absolutely wonderful job!

The Gables

At The Gables in Chatteris our residents spent the weekend with smiles on their faces and a fantastic selection of hats on their heads! That’s right – at The Gables they decided to have an Easter lunch with all the trimmings, with residents and staff dressing up in festive costumes.

Our residents loved eating their lunch with daffodils, bunny ears and wonderful woven hats surrounding them. They looked absolutely wonderful in their outfits and we’re so happy they had a brilliant Easter weekend.

In the lead up to the weekend our residents made some Easter cards for their loved ones – here are some images of them being made. We hope that our residents loved ones loved receiving them as much as the residents enjoyed making them!

In Essex our residents at Valentine House also received Easter Eggs!

As Valentine is quite a large home, there were even more eggs than the above photograph handed out. The eggs came as a complete surprise to our residents, who were very grateful to be given them.

Our residents were treated to the usual Easter festivities such as a traditional lunch, but we wanted to show you their faces when their eggs were first given to them – they all look so happy!

York House

At York House our staff decided to provide some entertainment for our residents with a unique festive theme.

Dressing up as Easter Bunnies for the day our staff handed out Easter eggs and prepared a beautiful Easter lunch for all our residents. Here’s one of our amazing residents wearing the ears!
